Installing MonitorMice for Windows NT 4.0
=========================================

Note: you must have administrator access rights on the Windows
NT 4.0 system to install MonitorMice for Windows NT 4.0. You
must also have adminstrator access rights to run the
touchscreen control panel and calibration applications.

1. Shutdown Windows NT and turn off your computer.

2. Install your Elo touchscreen hardware as described in the
    IntelliTouch or AccuTouch Product Manual, or the Quick Start
    poster.

3.  Start your computer.

4. After Windows loads, click the Start button, and then click
    Run.

5. Click the Browse button to locate the setup.exe program in
    the directory containing the driver install files. Click
    Open, then OK to run setup.exe.

6. Follow the directions on the screen to complete the Setup
    program.

7. Restart your computer when prompted. The touchscreen
    calibration program will automatically run when Windows
    starts up. Touch each of the three targets as they appear
    on the screen. Click Yes when the cursor lines up correctly
    with your finger.

Release Notes
=============

- To enable the "2-wire", no-handshaking mode, set the
  following DWORD registry key to 0 using regedit.exe:

   HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\System\CurrentControlSet\Services
      \Monmouse\TouchscreenXX\Parameters\HardwareHandShaking

  where "TouchscreenXX" is the registry section for the
  touchscreen for which the no-handshaking mode is to be
  enabled.

- Because serial communications services are not available
  until late in the Windows NT 4.0 startup process, the
  touchscreen will not begin to function for several seconds
  after the Windows NT logon dialog is displayed.

==========================================
Enhancements and Bug Fixes in This Release
==========================================

- A new setup program was created to automate installation
  of the MonitorMice drivers and to configure up to 4
  touchmonitors for use on a single Windows NT Workstation.
  The new setup program automatically prompts you to
  uninstall any previous installation of MonitorMice
  before continuing.

- The control panel was resized to fit completely on a
  640 x 480 display.

- A control panel problem that displayed incorrect text
  when run on international versions of Windows NT was
  corrected.

- Elo DOS-based diagnostic applications are now copied to
  the default \ELOWINNT\DIAGS directory on the Windows NT
  drive. The location can be overridden by the user if a
  different directory is selected when running the Setup
  program.

- A bug was corrected that sometimes caused the system to
  hang during periods of extremely high disk or network I/O
  activity.

- Added logic to Elocal32.exe to wait for the monmouse.sys
  driver to be loaded by the system. The setup program was
  modified to automatically launch Elocal32.exe after reboot.

- The new Setup program will install the system mouse class
  driver required by the MonitorMice driver, MOUCLASS.SYS,
  if it is not already installed. The program will prompt
  the user for their Windows NT Workstation install CD in
  order to copy the driver file.

- The Windows NT 4.0 beep service (BEEP.SYS) is no longer
  required for the touchscreen driver to correctly load.

- A bug was corrected that always turned beep on after
  video alignment regardless of the control panel beep
  on/off setting.

- A bug was corrected that always made the cursor visible
  after video alignment regardless of the control panel
  cursor on/off setting.

- The calibration logic was enhanced to properly align touch
  with your video display even when the video image is not
  fully within the active area of the touch sensor.

- The driver no longer flags lack of NVRAM on the touch
  controller as hardware error in the control panel.

- Serial communications handshaking logic (and logic used when
  handshaking is disabled) was modified to match operation of
  other Elo drivers.

==========
Known Bugs
==========

- The touchscreen control panel always displays "1" for the
  touchscreen COM port even if another COM port is actually
  in use. This bug does not affect the usage of this control
  to change the touchscreen COM port.

- It's easy to lose track of the touchscreen control panel if
  it is open on the Windows desktop, but underneath other
  windows. Relaunching the touchscreen control panel does
  not make the control panel visible. Instead, use Alt-Tab or
  the Taskbar to force the control panel to the top of the
  desktop.

- The Apply and Cancel buttons in the touchscreen control
  panel do not follow the accepted standard Windows conventions
  for functionality of these buttons in a control panel. The
  Apply button is not always available after modifying control
  panel options. The Cancel button doesn't cancel some settings
  that take effect immediately.
